Product detailed description

Battlefield Role Unique Features Difficulty Player Tip
Melee shock unit and board center threat. The Brutalis pushes forward, claims space, and forces the opponent to react. If it makes contact, things get ugly. Massive dreadnought with brutal melee weapons, a distinct "hero" aesthetic, and plenty of details to paint. Looks great in any Chapter's colors. Medium: the model is larger, so you’ll want clean assembly and a step-by-step painting plan. On the other hand, large surfaces are easy and fast to paint. Paint in sub-assemblies (arms, weapon, torso). You'll save yourself the stress and achieve a cleaner result. A wash in the recesses and light edge highlights make the biggest difference.

Warhammer 40k - Brutalis Dreadnought

The Brutalis Dreadnought is exactly the kind of model that delivers a "wow" factor even to someone seeing Warhammer for the first time. Huge, detailed, and terrifyingly effective in melee – perfect when you want a unit in your Space Marine army that pushes forward, takes space, and decides games. Plus, it's a perfect painting project: large surfaces, clean shapes, and plenty of details that you can progressively improve.

Inside the box, you’ll find plastic components to assemble a Brutalis Dreadnought – a massive war machine built for aggressive play. You get imposing melee weapons, robust armor plating, and plenty of details that make it look fantastic as a display centerpiece. It’s a miniature that feels like a "boss fight" on the table – and it plays exactly that way.

Where the Brutalis Fits in Your Army

Ideally, right at the front. The Brutalis is a tool for pressure: it threatens charges, claims space, and forces the opponent to back away or focus fire on it. You can use it as a "battering ram" to break through the center or as a flank threat that opens the way for your scoring units.

Key Advantages You’ll Feel Immediately

  • Massive melee pressure: when it hits, it can decide combats and clear objectives.
  • High "wow" factor: a large model that looks great even with a simple paint job.
  • Excellent "bullet magnet": opponents often have to invest heavy fire into it, saving your other units.

Who It Shines Against and Its Style

  • Space Marines: The Brutalis is their aggressive hammer. If you want an army that doesn't just hold objectives but actively pushes the opponent, this is a fantastic addition.
  • Objective holders and center campers: When an opponent sits on a point thinking they're safe, the Brutalis reminds them that close combat exists.
  • How it's most commonly used: Move it to threaten a charge. Stay in cover, and when a window opens, slam into the target. The goal is to force the opponent to lose momentum and throw units off objectives.

Armament and Details Melee weapons and accessories that make the model feel massive and brutal.
Base A base for stable placement of this large miniature on the table.
Instructions Clear step-by-step assembly guide.

Tip for Quick Wow Effect Primer + main color + wash in the recesses + quick edge highlights. On a large model, the difference is visible immediately.

Recommended Paints and Tools (Quick “Battle Ready” Plan)

Quick foundation for beginners: just a primer + a few colors for base, shade, and detail. Let’s not overcomplicate it.

Primer (recommended)

Chaos Black (spray)

Usage: An excellent universal base. For a dreadnought, it helps unify large surfaces and provides shadows in the recesses.

Core Colors (minimum for “battle ready”)

Macragge Blue (or your Chapter's color)

Type: Base

Usage: Main armor color. If you play a different Chapter, swap it for your own (e.g., Mephiston Red, Caliban Green, Abaddon Black).

Leadbelcher

Type: Base (Metallic)

Usage: Hydraulics, joints, mechanical parts, and metallic details. With a wash, it will look truly "machine-like."

Nuln Oil

Type: Shade

Usage: In the recesses, around rivets, and on mechanics. On a large model, it creates depth with zero effort.

Calgar Blue (or Fenrisian Grey)

Type: Layer

Usage: Quick edge highlighting for the armor. Just a few strokes and the dreadnought looks sharp and clean.

Astrogranite

Type: Technical

Usage: Base texture. Instantly grounds the model in the battlefield.

Recommended Tools (optional)

Citadel Plastic Glue

Usage: Clean plastic bonding. For large models, it’s best to glue in stages and let the joints set for a moment.

Citadel STC Base Brush + Detail Brush

Usage: Base brush for large armor panels, small brush for insignia, cables, and lenses.

How to Play It Simply and Smartly

Key Element How It Works
Pressure and Charge Threat You don't always have to attack. Just being in a position where the opponent knows a breakthrough is coming next turn is enough.
Use Cover When possible, hide from the worst incoming fire. Shoot just as much as you need and prepare your charge.
Clear Objectives The Brutalis is great against units camping on a point. Crash into them and open the objective for your infantry.
Attention Magnet Opponents often overreact. While they are shooting at the Brutalis, your other units are free to score points.

Starting with Warhammer 40,000? Quick FAQ

Question Answer
Is it suitable for a beginner? Yes. It’s a larger model, but easy to paint due to the large panels. It makes an immediate impression on the table.
What do I need for assembly? Plastic glue, clippers, and a knife. I recommend gluing in sub-assemblies (torso, arms, weapons).
What is the minimum number of colors? Start with 5 to 7: primer, main color, metal, wash, highlight, and 1 to 2 colors for details (lenses, insignia).
Do I need to worry about detailed weathering? No. Even a clean "parade" finish looks great. You can always add weathering later.

What's Next After Your First Games

What Next? Why
Complete your scoring units The Brutalis pushes, but infantry wins points. Add battleline units to hold objectives.
Add support and buffs A hero, tech-priest, or support aura can make the Brutalis an even bigger threat.

Where to Go Next: Simple Follow-up

Follow-up Recommendation
Another big threat or fire support When you have one "hammer," adding fire support or a second threat breaks the opponent's defensive plan.
Expand your paints Add colors for cables, lenses, insignia, and edge highlights – on a large model, the difference is massive.
Basing and details A simple base and a few details (drybrush, pigments) will push the model to the next level.
