High-coverage Citadel Base paints for the first colour layers on miniatures
Citadel Base paints are highly pigmented acrylic paints designed to establish the main colour areas of a miniature. Their strong coverage helps you quickly create an even colour foundation that can then be developed with Shade paints, Layer paints or other Citadel Colour techniques.
The range includes a wide selection of colours for armour, cloth, skin, organic surfaces, weapons and other parts of a model, including metallic paints for metal details. Base paints can be used for official Warhammer army colour schemes as well as your own combinations.
Base paints contain a high concentration of pigment and are designed to establish the main colour areas of a model quickly. For a smooth finish, however, two thin coats are still better than one coat that is too thick.
Once the Base colour is applied, you can continue with Shade paints to deepen shadows, Layer paints to build highlights, or Contrast and Technical products depending on your chosen painting process.
Alongside standard colours, the Base range also includes metallic shades suitable for weapons, armour, ornaments and other metal parts of your miniatures.
Mix the paint thoroughly before use and, if necessary, thin it slightly on your palette with water or a suitable medium. Allow the first thin coat to dry before applying the second. This helps preserve the fine details of the model and creates a smoother, more even surface for further shading and highlighting.
