Nighthaunt
– phantoms from the realm of death, the embodiment of pain and punishment
The Nighthaunt are legions of damned ghosts that rose from the realm of Shyish after the Necroquake—a magical event that unleashed the forces of death across the Mortal Realms. They are the souls of sinners, traitors, and victims that Nagash has cursed to eternal servitude. Each ghost bears a punishment that corresponds to its life's sin.
Their armies are composed of Chainrasp Hordes, Dreadscythe Harridans, Myrmourn Banshees, Spirit Hosts, Hexwraiths, and powerful heroes like Lady Olynder—the Mortarch of Grief, or Kurdoss Valentian, who embodies lost power. They fight with hatred for the living, their weapons pass through armor, and their presence paralyses the will of their enemies.
The Nighthaunt are not just aimless phantoms—their processions have a hierarchy, tactics, and leaders. Each ghost is both a weapon and a symbol of punishment. They are ethereal, resistant to physical attacks, and able to reform even after destruction. Their arrival is like a fog of death—silent, inevitable, and terrifying.
