Product detailed description
Photoetch Burnishing Fluid (100mL)
A specialized chemical fluid for quick blackening and matting of photo-etched parts, preventing paint from flaking off smooth metal.
Photoetch Burnishing Fluid (100mL) is a Chemical burnishing fluid for photo-etched parts suitable for Chemically darkening, matting, and oxidizing brass and copper photo-etched parts without clogging tiny details with thick paint layers.. Rapid chemical oxidation, uniform matte finish, maintains absolute sharpness of microscopic details, significantly improves adhesion of subsequent paints and glues.. Preparing metal seatbelts, engine grilles, or intricate aircraft cockpit details before assembly and color application..
About the product
Photoetch Burnishing Fluid solves a major headache that every modeler working with photo-etch faces—the ultra-smooth surface of bare brass, which rejects normal paint and scratches off easily during handling. This fluid works through controlled chemical oxidation, microscopically etching the metal surface, darkening it to a slate-black tone, and creating a perfectly matte micro-texture. Because it is not a physical coating, it adds zero thickness to the parts, ensuring that even the most delicate engine mesh or instrument panel faces remain completely sharp. Furthermore, cyanoacrylate glues grip this treated micro-surface much better, making the assembly of tiny metal structures significantly easier.

Tips and tricks
| Category | Description |
|---|---|
| Use | Darkening brass photo-etch: Excellent; Treating copper parts: Excellent; Application on aluminum: Limited; Use on plastic: Not compatible. |
| Advantages | Patina becomes a direct part of the metal itself, eliminates the need to spray tiny parts with thick primer, eases the application of cyanoacrylate glues. |
| Weaknesses | Requires a one hundred percent clean and degreased metal surface, otherwise the reaction will create blotchy stains. |
| Combination | Photo-etched metal parts (PE), AMMO cyanoacrylate (CA) glues, AMMO acrylics and enamels. |
| Tip | Before dipping, completely free your photo-etch from grease and any tape residue from manufacturing (using isopropyl alcohol). Submerge them into the fluid in a small plastic container for a few seconds to a couple of minutes. As soon as the parts turn dark, remove them immediately and rinse with fresh water—the reaction happens exactly where you need it, leaving the surface perfectly ready for paint. |
