Textures and Natural Effects
Textures and Natural Effects – earth, mud, water and realistic surfaces
Textures and Natural Effects offer materials for creating realistic surfaces on miniature bases, dioramas and gaming terrain. Ready-to-use textures allow you to create dry and cracked earth, sand, mud, asphalt, concrete, snow, water surfaces, rocky rubble and many other effects without the need to mix your own modelling compounds.
The individual materials can be used on their own or combined to create layered terrain. Start with the basic shape of the landscape, add a suitable surface texture, and then finish the scene with water effects, snow, rocks, cork, vegetation and weathering. The same techniques can be used for anything from a small miniature base to a large-scale diorama.

Textures such as Arid Dry Ground, Sand Ground or Vietnam Earth allow you to quickly create dry soil, sand, dusty roads and damp natural surfaces. Use them as a foundation for miniature bases, landscapes and larger dioramas.
Thick acrylic textures are ideal for muddy roads, vehicle tracks, wet ground and heavier layers of terrain. You can shape the surface during application to create uneven ground, tracks and other natural-looking details.
Asphalt Ground and Concrete Texture are ideal for roads, pavements, industrial areas, airfields, urban ruins or sci-fi bases. They provide a practical foundation wherever you need a hard, man-made surface.
Quake Crackle Creator Textures create a distinctive cracked surface. They are ideal for dried riverbeds, deserts, wastelands, parched earth and fantasy or sci-fi worlds with extreme environments.
Vignettes Acrylic Water and products such as Clear Water allow you to create puddles, streams, ponds and other bodies of water. Water effects can be combined with mud, rocks, reeds and other waterside vegetation.
Snow and other special-effect materials can be used for winter bases, snowy landscapes and cold environments. Combining snow with earth, rocks and dry vegetation creates a more natural transition between exposed and snow-covered surfaces.
Cork granules in different sizes allow you to create fine gravel, rocks, larger stone fragments and irregular rubble. Thanks to their low weight, they are suitable for both miniature bases and larger terrain constructions.
Crushed Brick cork mixtures are designed to replicate broken bricks and construction rubble. Use them in urban ruins, around damaged buildings, on battlefields or in post-apocalyptic scenes.
The most realistic terrain usually comes from combining several different products. Start with a basic earth texture, add cork rocks, then introduce mud or water and finish the surface with static grass, tufts, bushes and other vegetation.
First, choose the environment you want to create – for example, a desert, forest road, muddy battlefield, urban ruin or winter landscape. Then build the basic height and shape of the terrain and apply the main earth, asphalt or concrete texture. While working, you can incorporate rocks, cork and rubble into the surface or create tracks and uneven areas. Once dry, add further colour variations, weathering and any water or snow effects. Vegetation is usually best added towards the end – static grass, tufts, moss, bushes and individual plants help tie all the layers together into a single natural-looking environment.
