Weathering Pencils – rust, dirt, scratches and patina under control
AK Interactive Weathering Pencils are special water-activated pencils designed for easily creating weathering effects on miniatures, vehicles, machinery, terrain and other models. The precise tip allows you to create small chips, scratches, streaks, rust, dust, dirt and other signs of wear exactly where you need them.
You can use the pencils dry for precise lines and small marks, or combine them with water to create softer, blended and irregular effects. Thanks to their simple application, they are suitable for your first experiments with weathering while still offering enough control for detailed work by experienced modellers.

Shades such as Light Rust, Medium Rust, Dark Rust, Strong Ocher and Vivid Orange allow you to combine several corrosion tones. You can create small rust spots, streaks and larger corroded areas, achieving a more natural result by alternating between lighter and darker shades.
The chipping and aging set is designed for scratches, peeling paint, worn edges and other types of surface damage. You can use the pencils to precisely create individual chips and combine several shades to give them greater depth.
Dust / Rainmarks, Concrete Marks, Earth Brown, Buff and Streaking Dirt can be used to create dust, earth, smudges, dirt streaks and other signs of operational grime. They are ideal for vehicles, boots, undercarriages, buildings, terrain and miniature bases.
Metallic pencils help create the appearance of metal exposed beneath a layer of paint. They are ideal for armour edges, weapons, tools, mechanical components and other areas that naturally wear down to bare metal through regular use.
The basic colour set expands the possibilities of the pencils to include shading and toning. Individual colours can be combined to suit the underlying shade, allowing you to create subtle colour variations, wear and other small effects on different types of models.
If you want a wide range of weathering shades in one place, the complete set contains 37 pencils and a practical storage case. It gives you colours for rust, dirt, dust, metal, streaks, chipping, shading and many other effects without the need to choose individual themed sets.
The easiest way to start is on a matt surface, where the pencil can deposit pigment effectively. For fine scratches and chips, use a sharp pencil dry and apply the effect only to areas where the model would naturally show wear – such as edges, corners, hatches or around frequently used components. If you want softer dirt, a rust streak or a blended mark, you can moisten the effect with water and continue working it with a brush. Always start with a small amount and gradually build up the weathering – several different subtle marks usually look more natural than one strong effect.
