Speedpaint 2.0
Speedpaint 2.0 – Fast Miniature Painting in a Single Coat
Speedpaint 2.0 paints from The Army Painter are designed for fast and easy miniature painting. Their special consistency allows the paint to flow into recesses while leaving a thinner layer on raised areas. In a single step, you can create a base colour, deeper shadows, and lighter raised areas of the model.
Speedpaint 2.0 works best over a light undercoat, allowing its transparent properties to achieve their full effect. It is ideal for quickly painting entire armies, gaming miniatures, and other projects where you want striking results without the traditional base colour → wash → multiple highlight layers process.

When applied, Speedpaint naturally settles more heavily into recesses and remains thinner on raised areas. A single colour can therefore create the base tone, darker shadows, and lighter areas of the model at the same time.
For bright and vibrant results, apply Speedpaint over a white or other light-coloured primer. The darker the undercoat, the darker the final colour will appear and the less pronounced the shading effect will be.
Shades such as Crusader Skin, Warrior Skin, Sand Golem, and a wide selection of browns, greens, and other colours make it easy to quickly paint skin, fur, leather, clothing, and natural materials.
Reds, blues, greens, yellows, purples, and other vibrant shades are ideal for armour, uniforms, and fantasy or sci-fi miniatures. Speedpaint is particularly effective on textured surfaces with plenty of details and recesses.
Metallic shades such as Aztec Gold, Brazen Copper, Broadsword Silver, and Enchanted Steel expand the system to weapons, armour, and other metallic parts. This allows you to maintain the same fast painting process when working on metallic details.
Speedpaint 2.0 is ideal whenever you want to efficiently paint a larger number of models. You can complete a basic colour scheme very quickly and then enhance important characters with traditional paints, adding finer highlights and details.
First, apply a light-coloured primer to the miniature and shake the Speedpaint thoroughly before use. Load your brush with enough paint and apply it smoothly to individual areas of the model. Work systematically and watch for areas where too much paint begins to pool – excess paint can be removed with a damp brush while it is still wet. Once applied, allow the layer to dry thoroughly. For quick tabletop miniatures, a single coat may be enough, while important models can then be enhanced with traditional Warpaints Fanatic paints for more precise edge highlights and the finest details.
