Why play this game

  • Innovative multi-use cards that allow for harvesting, producing, or village upgrading.
  • A unique scoring system that challenges you to balance the production of both beer and bread.
  • High-quality wooden components and beautiful artwork in a compact, travel-friendly box.

Master the Craft of the Valley

Beer & Bread is a clever strategy game designed specifically for two players. Over six alternating years of plenty and drought, you will harvest ingredients like wheat, barley, rye, hops, and water to fulfill recipes. Every card in your hand is a precious tool with three different uses: you can use it to gather resources, bake bread or brew beer, or tuck it under your board as a permanent upgrade to your village’s infrastructure.

One Card, Three Possibilities Every decision counts. Will you use your card for an immediate harvest or save it for a high-scoring recipe later?

Harvest, Brew, and Bake

  • Collect resources like grain and hops from the central board to stock your storehouse.
  • Play cards as recipes to turn those resources into finished beer or bread for victory points.
  • Adapt to the seasons—in fruitful years, you draft cards with your opponent; in lean years, you rely on your own hand.
  • At the end of the 6th year, you count points for beer and bread separately. Your final score is the LOWER of the two!

Why It’s the Perfect Duel

The genius of Beer & Bread lies in its scoring. Because your total score is determined by your least successful product, you can't just focus on one strategy. This creates a fascinating tension where you must constantly pivot to keep your production balanced. The alternating years change the way cards flow, making every game a fresh tactical puzzle. With its quick play time and beautiful artwork, it’s a game that is easy to get to the table but offers deep satisfaction for strategic minds.
