Acrylic Filters (15 Ml)

Acrylic Filters – subtle colour toning and harmonisation

Acrylic Filters are transparent acrylic filters that subtly alter the overall tone of a surface without covering the original colour or details of the model. Use them to harmonise camouflage, soften contrast, create colour variations, or slightly change the character of the base coat.

Apply the filter in a thin layer with a brush or airbrush over larger areas of the model. You can gradually build up the intensity with additional layers, and thanks to the extended drying time, the effect can be adjusted with water. Individual shades can also be combined with one another.

Harmonising camouflage

A filter applied over several colours helps visually blend individual shades and soften overly pronounced transitions, while keeping the underlying camouflage visible.

Lightening and darkening

Light Gray, Sand Grey, or Pale Blue can visually lighten or cool the surface, while Night Black, Basalt, and other dark tones help create a deeper, more subdued appearance.

Green and military shades

Military Green, Olive Drab, Khaki Green, Green Black, or Bright Green can be used for subtle changes to green surfaces, camouflage patterns, and military colours.

Dust, earth, and faded surfaces

Dirt, Clay, Ochre, Tan, and other earthy shades help give surfaces a dustier, earthier, or slightly faded appearance without creating a heavy layer of dirt.

Colour toning

Blue, green, red, orange, and other coloured filters can be used for subtle colour shifts, greater surface variation, or to distinguish individual areas of the model.

Patina, rust, and sci-fi

Rust helps add a rusty colour tone, while Starship Filth creates a more weathered shade that is particularly suitable for sci-fi vehicles and surfaces that should not look clean and new.

A filter is not a wash – what is the difference?

A wash is mainly used in recesses, panel lines, and around details, where it creates shadows and emphasises depth. A filter, on the other hand, is applied in a thin transparent layer over a larger area and is used when you want to subtly alter or harmonise the overall colour tone. Start with a very light layer – with filters, a natural-looking result is usually better achieved by gradually building up the effect rather than applying too much product at once.
