Citadel Air paints for smooth and precise airbrush painting of miniatures
Citadel Air paints are acrylic paints designed for use with an airbrush. Their finer consistency allows paint to be applied in thin, even layers, making them suitable for basecoating, smooth colour transitions, shading, modulation and work on larger surfaces.
The range includes shades that complement the classic Citadel Colour system, allowing you to combine airbrushing easily with brush painting using Base, Layer, Shade and other paints. Alongside standard colours, you will also find metallic and transparent variants for special surfaces and effects.
An airbrush allows you to apply very thin and even layers without prominent brush marks. Citadel Air is therefore ideal for quickly basecoating miniatures, vehicles, armour and larger model surfaces.
By building up the paint gradually and changing shades, you can create smooth colour transitions, highlights and shadows or modulation across larger surfaces without harsh boundaries between individual layers.
Alongside standard colours, the range also includes metallic shades for weapons and armour and transparent paints suitable for tinting, colour filters and other special effects.
Apply the paint gradually in thin layers and allow the surface to dry briefly between passes. This gives you a smoother finish and greater control over coverage and transitions. Although Citadel Air paints are designed specifically for airbrush use, depending on the nozzle, pressure and individual paint, it may still be useful to adjust the consistency with a suitable airbrush thinner.
