Enamel Washes – Quick Enhancement of Details and Panel Lines
Enamel Washes are highly fluid enamel paints designed to enhance recesses, panel lines, rivets, grooves and other recessed details. The wash naturally flows into the textured surface and creates shadows, quickly giving the model greater depth and making its details more clearly defined.
You can choose from versatile dark shades as well as washes designed for specific colours and areas of a model – including green or grey vehicles, desert camouflage, tracks, interiors, rust effects and sci-fi models.
Black Wash, Neutral Wash or Dark Wash can be used to enhance panel lines, recesses and other details on a wide range of models. A good choice if you are looking for your first versatile wash.
For a more natural result, you can match the wash shade to the model's surface. The range includes washes for green vehicles, Panzer Grey, German Dark Yellow and desert vehicles, among others.
Tracks Wash is designed for tracks, Interiors Wash for interiors, Light Rust Wash for subtle rust effects and Starship Wash for enhancing details on sci-fi models.
Apply a small amount with a brush directly into recesses, around rivets and other recessed details, allowing the wash to flow naturally by capillary action. Once partially dry, any excess can be adjusted or removed with a clean brush lightly moistened with a suitable enamel thinner. When starting out, choose a shade that complements the model's base colour – the resulting shadows will usually look more natural than automatically using a black wash everywhere.
