Product detailed description
Heavy Chipping Effects (35mL)
Water-activated weathering fluid for creating heavy paint chipping, worn edges, and larger areas of exposed undercoat. It makes it easy to reveal realistic rust, bare metal, or primer beneath an acrylic top layer.
Heavy Chipping Effects (35mL) is a Water-activated chipping fluid for creating heavy paint wear and large chipped areas suitable for Military vehicles, industrial machinery, sci-fi models, railway subjects, containers, terrain, and dioramas with pronounced operational wear. Creates controlled, naturally irregular chips by allowing the upper acrylic paint layer to be reactivated with water and selectively removed. Apply over the chosen base color, allow it to dry, and cover it with an acrylic topcoat. Once the topcoat is touch-dry, moisten the surface and use a brush, toothpick, or similar tool to reveal the layer underneath...
About the product
This specialized chipping fluid is designed for models that need visibly battered, neglected, or hard-used paintwork. It is applied between the base color and the final acrylic coat, then activated with water so the upper layer can be disturbed and removed in a controlled way. The result is naturally irregular wear with broken edges, scratches, and larger peeled areas that are difficult to reproduce convincingly with a brush alone. The amount of chipping can be adjusted through the thickness of the fluid, the drying time of the topcoat, and the tool used for removal. It is especially useful on armored vehicles, construction equipment, industrial scenery, abandoned machinery, and sci-fi subjects where substantial paint damage helps sell the history of the model.
Features
- Creates bold, irregular chips with naturally broken edges

Tips and tricks
| Category | Description |
|---|---|
| Use | Heavy paint chips, worn edges, exposed primer, rusty surfaces, battered military vehicles, industrial machinery, and neglected structures |
| Advantages | Easy control over the final effect, naturally irregular damage, fast creation of larger chipped areas, and compatibility with layered weathering |
| Weaknesses | Requires careful timing during water activation, and overly aggressive scrubbing may remove more of the topcoat than intended |
| Combination | Rust and metallic base colors, acrylic topcoats, pigments, washes, streaking effects, grime, and mud products |
| Tip | Work on one small section at a time and test the effect in a hidden area first. A fresher topcoat removes more easily, while a longer drying time gives finer control and smaller chips. |
