Heavy Mud – Thick Mud and Heavy Earth Deposits
Heavy Mud products are thick, textured weathering effects designed to create pronounced deposits of mud, churned-up earth, and heavy terrain dirt. Compared to the finer Splashes effects, they create greater volume and texture, making them ideal wherever you want the mud on your model to be clearly visible.
These effects are especially useful on tracks, wheels, undercarriages, mudguards, and the lower parts of vehicles, as well as on bases and dioramas. The different shades allow you to recreate various terrain conditions, from dry, light-coloured soil and churned-up earth to dark, wet mud.
Dry Light Soil is ideal for lighter dry earth, dried mud, and dusty deposits. It also works well as a lighter layer when combining several shades of terrain dirt.
Thick Soil and Turned Earth are ideal for creating more pronounced soil texture, churned-up terrain, and heavier deposits around tracks, wheels, and the lower parts of vehicles.
Moist Ground, Heavy Earth, and Wet Mud are ideal for darker and wetter deposits. By combining them with lighter shades, you can create a convincing contrast between older, dried dirt and fresh, wet mud.
If you want fine splashes and a lighter layer of earth on the sides of a vehicle, choose Splashes. Use Heavy Mud wherever you need to create real volume and a more pronounced mud texture – for example, between track links, around wheels, or on the undercarriage. Apply it irregularly with a brush or suitable tool and combine several shades ranging from drier to wetter tones. A more natural result is usually achieved by building up several different layers rather than applying a single deposit of uniform thickness.
