Light Earth Ground Fine-textured acrylic ground paste engineered to quickly simulate dry, dusty soil and arid terrain surfaces on dioramas or miniature bases. It spreads beautifully, holds sharp texture details, and resists cracking even when built up in thicker layers..

Why choose it? Eliminates the tedious and messy step of blending plaster with loose sand and raw pigments, maintains its exact volume without shrinking as it dries, and acts as a bulletproof foundation for fine patination layers..

Combination: Desert sand and light dust weathering pigments, darker enamel wash effects to represent localized moisture spots, and tufts of scorched or dead static grass..

Tip: Spread the paste in varying thicknesses using a palette knife or an old flat brush. To erase any artificial tool marks and create an organic feel, stipple the wet surface with a piece of coarse sponge or a stiff stippling brush. If your layout features vehicle tracks or footprints, let the paste tack up for roughly 15 minutes before pressing your tires or tracks into the ground. Once fully cured—ideally overnight—bring out the subtle earth grain by lightly dry-brushing the high points with a lighter buff or ivory tone..

Light Earth Ground

About the product

This specialized groundwork paste offers scale modelers a flawless, ready-to-use medium for creating believable dry earth environments without the stress of lifting, shrinking, or cracking. Its pale, sun-bleached earth tone is optimized for recreating arid desert theater landscapes, high-summer dirt paths, or dusty steppe basins. The paste's consistency strikes the perfect balance—it is pliable enough to blend seamlessly across large areas, yet thick enough to sculpt ruts, craters, and structural terrain damage with ease. It provides total opaque coverage from the first application. Once cured, it forms an extremely tough, matte shell that easily handles extensive layering with oil washes, enamel streaks, or dry pigments.

Features

  • Micro-fine earth grain and dust particulates suspended in a highly flexible, durable acrylic polymer matrix
  • Non-shrink formulation prevents structural sinking or micro-fracturing when applied across deep landscape depressions
  • Excellent chemical resistance prevents the dry texture from softening or dissolving when exposed to harsh enamel thinners

Tips and tricks

Category Description
Use Display diorama ground layouts, gaming miniatures bases, lower chassis weathering on military armor, and defensive trenches
Advantages Clean, dust-free terrain building right out of the pot, generous volume for medium-to-large projects, and an incredibly realistic matte finish.
Weaknesses Heavy, volumetric deposits require prolonged curing times, meaning it is best left to dry undisturbed for a full 12 to 24 hours.
Combination Desert sand and light dust weathering pigments, darker enamel wash effects to represent localized moisture spots, and tufts of scorched or dead static grass.
Tip Spread the paste in varying thicknesses using a palette knife or an old flat brush. Once fully cured—ideally overnight—bring out the subtle earth grain by lightly dry-brushing the high points with a lighter buff or ivory tone.
