Metallic – metallic paints for weapons, armour and metal surfaces

AK Interactive Metallic offers metallic shades for painting weapons, armour, machinery, vehicles, structures and other metal parts of miniatures and models. The range includes classic steel, aluminium, silver, gold, brass, bronze and copper, as well as darker, aged and coloured fantasy or sci-fi metallic shades.

The core of the range consists of 3Gen General Series acrylic metallic paints suitable for both brush and airbrush application. They are complemented by Metallic Liquid Markers for quickly applying metallic effects with a precision tip. By combining a darker metallic base, a mid-tone shade and a bright highlight, you can give metal parts greater depth and shine.

Steel, iron and dark metals

Gun Metal, Natural Steel, Oily Steel and other darker metallic shades are ideal for weapons, mechanical parts, chains, structures and armour. Use a lighter metallic shade afterwards to highlight edges and areas exposed to the most wear.

Aluminium and light metals

Metallic Aluminium, Dark Aluminium and Metallic Silver are suitable for light metal surfaces, blades, edges, machinery and other details. Their different levels of brightness allow you to create both shadows and striking metallic highlights.

Gold, brass, bronze and copper

Metallic Gold, Old Gold, Brass, Bronze and Copper are ideal for decorative armour, jewellery, insignia, fantasy weapons, as well as historical and steampunk models. Darker and aged shades help create a less polished and more natural metal appearance.

Aged and weathered metals

Rusty Gold, Rusty Brass, Burnt Tin and other more muted shades are ideal when you do not want a perfectly new-looking metal finish. Use them as a base for old weapons, machinery, ruins and surfaces that can then be enhanced with washes, corrosion or other weathering effects.

Coloured fantasy and sci-fi metallics

Metallic Blue, Cobalt Blue, Anodized Violet, Foundry Red, Emerald Metallic Green and other coloured metallic shades allow you to create striking armour, energy elements, alien materials and other fantasy or sci-fi surfaces.

Metallic Liquid Markers – metallic effects without a brush

Metallic Liquid Markers in Gold, Chrome, Copper and Old Bronze apply highly pigmented metallic paint directly with a precision tip. They are particularly useful for small details, edges and smooth surfaces where you want fast and precise application.

How to choose and use metallic paint?

First, choose the type of metal according to the material you want to replicate – for example, Gun Metal or Steel for weapons and mechanical parts, Gold or Brass for decorative elements, and Copper or Bronze for warmer metallic surfaces. For greater depth, start with a darker shade and highlight the most raised edges with a lighter metallic colour. Mix metallic paints thoroughly before use to ensure the metallic particles are evenly distributed. For traditional painting, use 3Gen Metallic paints, while a Metallic Liquid Marker is a practical choice for quick details and precise brush-free application.
